Backpack

Backpack for needlepoint shops on Rain POS

Rain was made for specialty retail, and plenty of craft shops run their register and website on it together. It suits a needlepoint shop well when the items are set up right. We clean up and run the back office side, so the website, the counts and the reports mean what they say.

Where needlepoint shops on Rain get stuck

Because Rain keeps the register and website together, the problems are less about connecting systems and more about how items, categories and web listings were set up.

Online counts that look wrong anyway

Rain shares inventory between the register and the website, so when counts look wrong online the cause is usually upstream. Receiving that was skipped, items never published to the site, or duplicates created during the move to Rain.

We trace each mismatch back to how it happened and fix the items. Then we set a receiving routine, so new canvases show up online the day they arrive instead of the week after.

The same design listed three ways

Mesh sizes, stitch painted and hand painted versions, and canvases sold with or without a stitch guide all multiply the item count. Without a rule, one design can appear on your website in three different ways.

We set one rule for how canvases are built in Rain and apply it to the whole catalog. Each design reads clearly online, and staff can tell the versions apart at a glance.

A thread wall that is hard to browse online

Rain can hold a large thread inventory, but colors entered in different formats over the years make the website hard to browse and the register slow to search.

We put every thread line in one naming format with clean categories, so a stitcher can find a color number online and staff can find it at the counter. Your weekly sellers get a reorder list.

Finishing that is out for months

Special orders and finishing are where needlepoint shops differ most from other craft stores. A pillow can be at the finisher for months, and the customer calls every few weeks to ask.

We track every special order and every piece out for finishing with dates, deposits and the customer it belongs to. When something comes back, the customer hears from you before she has to call.

Tax settings from fewer states

Rain collects the tax you have set up. As web orders ship to more states, it is worth checking that your setup still matches where you owe, and filing those returns is a separate job.

We review where your sales go and keep your settings matched to your registrations. Sales tax compliance is part of our bookkeeping, with a CPA in the loop when you need one.

A growing list that rarely hears from you

Your Rain customer list grows with every sale. It is only worth something when you write to it, and most owners write when there is a quiet afternoon.

We send your newsletter and new arrival notes on a calendar, add reminders for your classes and clubs, answer the replies and ask happy customers for reviews.

Designers buried in item names

If the designer only appears inside an item name, reports cannot group by it. You end up guessing which designers to reorder at market.

We record the designer as its own field on every canvas and send a monthly report by designer with sales, margin and sell through.

What we connect Rain to

Rain already holds your register and website. We connect it to the books and to the places customers find you.

  • QuickBooksDaily sales and deposits reconciled, so the books match the bank.
  • Mailchimp or KlaviyoEmail to your Rain customers, if you want more than the basics.
  • GoogleYour listing, hours and photos kept current for local search.
  • Meta and PinterestNew canvases in front of stitchers, and ads when they make sense.

This is your back office operating system. Use only what you need. If you want bookkeeping and email but not the website, that is a plan.

Questions shop owners ask

Do I have to switch away from Rain?

No. If Rain works for your shop, we work inside it. Most shops need the setup they already have cleaned up and looked after, not replaced.

Rain already includes a website. Why would we need help with it?

The website is included, but someone still has to write product pages, keep photos current, fix search terms and help the customers who use it. That is the part we take on, with dedicated IT for the site.

Rain has its own support. How is yours different?

Rain's support helps with how Rain works. We do the daily back office work inside it, from receiving and item cleanup to special orders and reporting. Our support is dedicated to your shop, Monday to Friday, 6am to 6pm Pacific.

Can you move us to another platform if it makes sense?

Yes. If a different register or website would fit your shop better than Rain, we will tell you plainly and explain why. If you decide to move, we plan it with you, bring over your products and customers, and check the counts against your shelves before the old system is turned off.

What does it cost?

Every plan is built around the shop, so there is no public price. You only pay for the parts you use. It is month to month, you can pause anytime, and the first 30 days come with a full refund.
